Interview With Mohamed Maged Winner of Cinefern Film Award and Competition

The Film is about When the time is stopped, we feel like we trapped.

Trapped in the same place, at the same time, the same gap.

we do not know why, we do not know what to do in this maze ... are we punished for something we did in the past or for something we are doing now ...when the time is stopped, past look like the future, at this moment we wonder, are we need a helping hand, or that's the karma.

Mohamed Maged is the co-founders of DASH Media Group.

An international and regional award-winning creative director and filmmaker, and one of the notable alumni from New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, USA, who achieve his master degree in film making and cinema study from the Academy of Art.

He worked across advertising, animation projects and TV commercials and has been the creative, and director for various hit TV commercials and animation episodes for the TV and commercial campaigns for the past decade.

Interview With Mohamed Maged

Q: What is the basic Idea Behind the film?

Mohamed Maged: It’s about our behave, and how we respond to life situations, and how it can reflect on our destiny.

Q: How do you handle the Pre-Production, and Post Production?

Mohamed Maged: We prepare the pre-production so well, starting from casting, storyboard, scouting and music references, to have a road map for what the project will looks like as much as we can, so we can save time in production phase, and face less problems in the post production.

Q: What do you do to stay calm during Production of the film?

Mohamed Maged: For myself, I drink a lot of water to keep focus, because sometimes even if you prepare well, we still have some problem and need to be calm to can solve it during the production.

Q: What sort of stories excites you?

Mohamed Maged: I like all stories related to people relations, and how it's related to their communities and their own mentality, whether it is fantasy or real.

Q: Do you think all the good stories have already been made into a movie?

Mohamed Maged: I don't think so, the world is full of good stories from a lot of creative writers, because the world always changes and during this, we will find a lot of new situations what can create a lot of good stories, and even what was converted to films it can be reproduced with a different treatment and implementation, and there are all a lot of examples from that.

Q: While casting for your film you prefer to cast a well known face or any new face which fit the character?

Mohamed Maged: It’s good to have a new face, new faces are like a new book for the audience to deal with, because they don't have an experience with him before, but the most important thing is to fit the character, to make the audience believe the character and merge with his story.

Q: What is the most enjoyable thing about Production of the film?

Mohamed Maged: Every part in production has his own joy, starting from creating the idea till filming to the end when the audience saw it and enjoy with it, and this is the most enjoyable part when you see the result in audience eyes, they are the main target for why we make films.

Q: What is the best possible way to promote your film when you are on a tight budget?

Mohamed Maged: The world is different now than before, and thanks to film festivals, and their film markets, social media and online film platforms, everything become much easier to can promote your film even through your PC.

Q: When your next film is coming and what is it about?

Mohamed Maged: My next project is a series of short films are connected in different situations with no words or dialogue, but reflect a lot of human thoughts and behaviors, and it can be combined in one feature film.

Q: What advice do you want to give to the new and upcoming filmmakers?

Mohamed Maged: Don't ever stop, keep reading, watching and keep making films, even with your mobile.
